Stepping Stone Lodge

Stepping Stone Lodge was built in 1976. Each big timber was hand peeled by devoted workers, and then placed one on top of the other to create a one of a kind lodge. A group of community members and farm friends gathered to have a ”Rock Festival”. During this time trailer loads of fieldstones were gathered out of a remote field at the farm. As the huge fieldstone fireplace went up, wrought iron chandeliers were made by local artisans to round out the ambiance of the main room with its cathedral ceilings. All of the doors and fine cabinet work were hand made by a craftsman who lived in Temple his whole life. The lodge can sleep up to 26 people. There are 8 bedrooms, all located off the main room. Each bedroom shares a shower and toilet with the adjoining bedroom, preventing a ‘trip down the hall’ and promising privacy. Each bedroom also has its own sink. Some have bunk beds, while others offer twin beds. The kitchen is on the main floor. The back porch stretches the length of the building. It is great for eating, chatting, sipping that first cup of coffee or late night nip of wine. A fire pit is right by the back porch, ready with wood for a bonfire and roasting marshmallows. The farm surrounds the lodge and guests are welcome to stroll around the farm to see the animals being fed and exercised, but please do not enter any stall or field without permission! The laying hens can provide warm, fresh eggs for a real country breakfast.
